Since NLQ actually is a means of support for my family, I am shamelessly soliciting donations during the blogathon. I’m still a single mom with 5 kids at home, so any contributions will be a big help. I’ve set a modest goal for the blogathon: $1,000 ~ and if the money comes in ~ I’ll show my appreciation by posting a link to our old family blog. This is the personal family journal which I kept from August 2006 – January 2008 until I moved the journal to a new site.
As a way to build interest and anticipation, I’ll be sharing one post per day from the old family blog. Don’t worry that I might actually give away all the incentive to donate by sharing these posts ~ this is just a tease … There are over a year’s worth of posts, so the ones I republish here will be only a small sample.
NLQ Donation Total: $880.00 ~ Wow, huh?! I hope this “daily tease” will inspire you to help us reach our goal.
Life doesn’t get any better than this …

Tonight, just before bedtime, I had a very good visit with Wesley ~ he’s such a doll and who can figure out the mind of an almost-four-year-old? We listened closely to the chilly wind blowing outside and he asked me why God sends storms. “To clear the air and blow all the bad stuff away,” I ventured in my typically philosophical way. “Well, eating cows’ heads is really yucky,” Wesley replied ~ where did that come from?!
Next, he insisted that I sing The Lollipop Tree song for him and that is always so fun because no matter how many times I sing it to him, Wesley smiles mischievously when a lollipop stick is planted in the hopes of growing lollipops and he’s always thrilled when a lollipop tree grows over night and he laughs when lollipops drop into open mouths and he pouts with me when winter comes and there’s not one little lollipop growing on the tree’s icy, bare branches ~ and we’re so sad together about all the icicles until they turn to ice cream cones and then we get very happy and hug each other in our excitement
Oh, ho ho ~ ah, ha ha ~ what a place to be! Under my lollipop, lollipop, lollipop ~ lolly, lolly, lollipop tree.
We were wondering if it would be snowing on Lydia’s birthday and since that’s not until May, I assured him that it most likely won’t be. But, I told him, Hazelle’s birthday is only next week and there probably will be snow then ~ and guess who’s birthday is next month? Wesley’s! He’s going to be four ~ such a very big boy. “But, I don’t want to be a big boy!” he cried. Literally, I mean ~ he actually did start crying with real tears falling from his sweet eyes and I just had to hold him and tell him that it’s okay if he grows up. I’m thinking that Wesley’s baby-hood has been just a tad too good and too comfy ~ he’s in no hurry to leave it behind
Of course, with him being the youngest, I’m not so anxious for him to get older either ~ but I do know the alternative is not an acceptable option! So I let him cry and I held him close and after a while we agreed to just be happy for now.
Little children are such a delight. Lo, children are a heritage from the Lord and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
Thank You, dear Father ~ for making my life so rich with Your sweet and huggable blessings!
