by Vyckie I *finally* got a chance to get to the theater and watch the new Star Trek ~ and I’ll admit that I didn’t completely “get it” ~ what are they planning to do now, start the series over with the new James T. Kirk and crew who’re now different people due to the alternate reality created by the interference of time travelers? Don’t answer that one ~ because this post is not actually about Star Trek. LOL The movie got me thinking about the popular science fiction theme of no-win scenarios as Full post …

Here’s just a tiny little example for ya ‹(ô¿ô)›
By Vyckie As I have been telling my No Longer Quivering story here on the blog, I keep repeating that Warren was “difficult” to talk to because his communication skills were extremely poor. This afternoon, I was reminded of an incident which I really want to share here because it’s an excellent example of the situation we were dealing with. This is actually funny in an oh-that’s-so-pathetic sort of way. Three of my girls (Berea, Chassé, and Hazelle) have a rare genetic bone condition which they inherited from me. They receive treatment at the Shriners Full post …
Santa vs. Satan
by Laura When I was growing up, my moms worked craft shows to support us kids. They often worked right through Christmas Eve and so we never celebrated Christmas actually on Dec. 25. We would usually have our Christmas celebration in the second week of January. That way my moms could take advantage of the awesome after Christmas sales available back then. It took the pressure off and I always felt like someone special when I told my friends that WE were celebrating Christmas on January 10th or what ever it was. The date was Full post …
Vyckie’s Tour de Crap: Bless, Do Good, Pray … 3 Remedies for Sibling Rivalry
This photo of my five girls was taken last Christmas ~ and yes, they still do argue with each other ‹(ô¿ô)› Here’s another of my “Q.D.” (Quivering Days) articles which I wrote for our paper ~ this was subsequently published in several popular home school magazines. As you read, keep in mind that at the time I wrote this, I was near the breaking point from all the stress in our home ~ things were really falling apart for us, with Angel cutting herself and Warren growing more paranoid and difficult by the day. I Full post …
When am I supposed to sleep…?
by Laura When my 11th baby was born, he had feeding issues. He just wasn’t getting the hang of nursing and I think my “plumbing” was getting a bit worn out. After two weeks of trying and trying and him crying and crying, I took him to a Lactation Clinic an hour and a half away. The nurses and doctors were wonderful and remembered me from the last time I had a baby with these problems. They told me that I needed to use a breast pump every two hours all day and every 4 Full post …
It’s about a VISION
Vyckie’s family 2007 An important consideration that’s obviously on everyone’s mind here can be summed up this way: All those years that I published a “pro-life, pro-family” newspaper and I was writing articles for home school magazines encouraging others to live a QF/patriarchal lifestyle ~ we seemed to have a really nice, happy family. The Bennett Family was a role model for other Christian families ~ we were even honored by the governor of Nebraska in 2003 as “Family of the Year.” I’ve shared many testimonies of God obviously working in our lives. (Be sure Full post …
We mustn’t get ANGRY
by Vyckie “Just SMILE, okay?” This photo was taken on my 18th anniversary before church. Warren was in a terrible mood that morning ~ and all I wanted was to get family pictures taken which made us all look like such a happy family. It’s like the more unhappy we were, the more determined I was to put on a good face and show the world how exceedingly happy we were. Ack. Okay ~ I’m trying to work on writing the next installment of my story ~ but now I’m distracted with another topic ~ Full post …
It’s about SUPERSTITION
by Vyckie At the CYIA Spring Retreat ~ all weekend long, I fought the fear that I had just invited disaster upon myself and my children… Laura’s story, Three Lilacs and a Statue made me think about another topic which Laura and I have discussed on several occasions ~ so I talked to her about it again and we decided we would write this post together since “superstition” was such a HUGE part of both of our experiences. I’ll go first… Vyckie: Part of my “submissive wife” mindset included the belief that unless I Full post …
